AR Autism Partnership

Helping Hand was one of the few facilities selected in the central Arkansas area to be a part of the Autism Waiver Program. This program provides Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) treatment to children in the homes and community settings.

Children will be eligible who…

  • Meet the financial eligibility for Medicaid services
  • Have documentation of a confirmed diagnosis of Autism by a physician, psychologist, and speech-language pathologist
  • Are between the ages of 18 months and 5 years (must enter the program on or before their 5th birthday but can continue to receive services up to their 7th birthday)
  • Have significant deficits in areas of life functioning, and/or presence of significant behavioral challenges

A team of professionals will evaluate eligible children with autism and, with paraprofessionals, provide one-on-one intervention in their homes for up to 30 hours per week. The team will utilize individualized strategies that have been proven effective with children with autism in building skills in areas of cognition, communication, self-care, socialization and appropriate behavior. Parents will be trained and included as active members of the team. Parents must be present during the intervention delivered by the team to learn the program and will then implement the plan on their own at least 14 hours per week. Contact Helping Hand for more information on how to get your child started.
